Wellington Restaurants

Wellington is a exciting and cosmopolitan city and the wide variety of Wellington restaurants is a reflection of this. With over 400 restaurants, bars and cafes in the Downtown area alone, you will definitely find something to suit your taste.

Like many NZ cities, Wellington is culturally diverse. Being such an international ‘hotspot’ means that the city plays host to a selection of fantastic ethnic cuisine. Thai, Chinese, Japanese venues rub shoulders with Indian and Italian places. You’ll also find a selection of Halal restaurants. And you can’t go far without passing one of the fabulous vegetarian restaurants in Wellington.

Wellington City has a few areas that are well known as restaurant ‘destinations’. Oriental Bay has a great selection of seafood restaurants situated on the waterfront. The Tug Boat on the Bay, The White House Restaurant (with BYO option), and the Fisherman’s Table (plus many more) are all within walking distance from each other.

Courtenay Place is another ‘destination’ for diners. Some people say that it is the heart of entertainment and dining in Wellington City. Many of the restaurants are open late, with some of the bars staying open until dawn! After dining you can take a short stroll to catch a movie or a show, or just enjoy the bustle of ‘New Zealand‘s party street!’

Thorndon area plays host to some great French restaurants. The Bastille, Flappers Deja Vu and Francois Restaurant to name a few.

But Wellington is not just about the ‘fine dining experience’. There are also numerous top restaurants with great food and cheap prices!

As you can see, Wellington has an absolutely ‘delicious’ dining experience on offer. All you have to do is choose which restaurant you want to experience it in!
